About Delhi Liver Foundation
We are an Indian non-profit organization working at the national level with patients, health care workers and professionals associated with Liver diseases which are responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths each year in India. Hepatitis B carriers alone account for an estimated 450 million chronic carriers all over the world who are at high risk of progressing towards a permanently damaged liver (CIRRHOSIS) of liver followed by development of liver cancer (HEPATOCELLULAR CARCINOMA).
Treatment of hepatitis B is only one issue. At the same time there is tremendous psychosocial burden on the patient and the family impacting overall quality of life and in coping with the illness in patients who are usually physically and mentally drained and emotionally and financially devastated due to prolonged lifelong debilitating illness.
One cannot overemphasize the important role of health care workers, families and professionals who support patients living with a prolonged chronic liver disease in an effort to provide selfless lifelong care.
But this is a typical situation in HEPATITIS B patients. It is also of concern that there may be many more treatable diseases like ALCOHOLIC LIVER DISEASE and HEPATITIS C and NONALCOHOLIC FATTY LIVER DISEASE (NAFLD) which may never reach the desired pinnacle of care for lack of money, illiteracy, lack of will power or motivation.
The list of treatable liver diseases is ever expanding and we seek your blessings and selfless support on our journey to meeting our goals for prevention, control, treatment and if possible the eradication of all possible treatable liver diseases for the benefit of our patients.
